Professor Martin Betts

Martin has held the position of Executive Dean of the Faculty of Built Environment and Engineering at QUT since 2003. He is a Fellow of Engineers Australia, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the Chartered Institute of Building and of the Royal Society of Arts, Manufacture and Commerce.

In his role at QUT, he leads the University’s work across disciplines of design, urban development, infrastructure and all areas of engineering. He is sponsoring Dean of QUT’s work in CRCs in Construction Innovation, Integrated Engineering Asset Management and Railway Technologies and of its collaboration with Brisbane City Council in the Centre for Subtropical Design. He is also one of the sponsoring Deans behind QUT’s role in the Shell Project Management Academy.

Martin’s areas of interest and expertise lie in strategic management in infrastructure organisations, information systems and technology strategy, engineering project process improvement, and construction education. In these areas of work Martin has undertaken extensive research projects, has published widely, has consulted for commercial and public sector organisations, and has delivered presentations and teaching and learning to students and audiences around the world.
